Our story

From a single frame to a
cinematic identity

It all started when Ben saw a new kid in his highschool class drawing one piece. That kid was James and we have been best friends ever since. We‘ve had many different projects and dreams together over the years. We actually started with making music together, not film. We just jammed and practiced old Guns n‘ Roses songs. This is where our passion for art grew. We both however chose different career paths. Ben studied at the PHLU and finished his master studies in secondary education in 2021. James studied architecture at the ETH and finished his masters in 2023 Their academic hunger however wasn’t satisfied then. In 2027 they will finish their current studies: Ben with his second masters in special needs education and James in cinematography which he studies in Hollywood, Los Angeles at the LA filmmakers academy.

Years later, our first filmproject together was Ben‘s first fullblown music video. And we‘ve been making passion projects ever since. In 2025 we decided to start the film company and founded Vision Cinematic. We still are pursueing our passion and having fun while we do it.

Dundup joined as well later in 2024. He’s responsible for pre and post production tasks, editing and building the very website you‘re reading this on.

Most studios start at the camera. We start at the question: what does this brand actually need people to feel?

There is a gap between video that is technically fine and video that genuinely moves someone. Vision Cinematic was founded to close that gap — not through budget or gear, but through a sharper creative process that treats storytelling as the non-negotiable.

We work best with brands that care about the details. The pacing of a cut, the weight of a score, the difference between a shot that is good and one that is undeniable.

Let's talk

How we operate

The thinking
behind the work

Concept before camera

We never reach for equipment until the idea is locked. A sharp brief produces better results than a long shooting day. Every project starts with a story that is worth telling on its own terms.

Craft over convenience

Taking the easier route rarely produces the better result. We choose the harder angle, the right light, the slower edit — because shortcuts always show up on screen, and audiences notice more than they let on.

Partnership, not just production

We invest time learning what a brand needs to say — and what it needs to avoid. The deeper we understand your world, the more precisely we can translate it into something that feels unmistakably you.

Output that earns its place

We measure success by whether the video actually does its job — not by how well it looks on a showreel. Engagement, retention, impact. That is the real edit, and it starts before the first shot is taken.

Behind the scenes

From jamming in a classroom to our own magazine cover

Years ago, two school friends spent their afternoons butchering old Guns N’ Roses songs and dreaming up films nobody had asked for. Then came the 11th FANTASY, and suddenly there we were: arms crossed, back to back, on a Film Guide cover, right next to the biggest movies of the summer. We tried so hard to look serious. It lasted about four seconds. But standing there, looking at that cover, we thought about that classroom, that cheap amplifier, and how far two friends can get when neither of them is willing to quit.

Window blinds, thumbs up, and zero chance of a serious photo

We wanted one classic, serious team photo. The sunlight coming through the window blinds had other plans, and gave half the crew zebra stripes across their faces. Add three thumbs up, a few arms around shoulders, and a lot of laughing, and the serious photo was officially cancelled. When we look at it now, we don’t see the stripes. We see how much bigger this crew has grown since it was just two friends and a camera. Friends, family and brave newcomers, all in the same black shirt. This one is on our wall.

Arms crossed, heart racing

Here we are watching our work on a big screen, looking like two very calm film critics. The truth? One of us was counting every cut, and the other was silently praying that nobody noticed the shot we almost deleted. After countless late nights of editing, it is a strange feeling to stand in a dark room full of strangers and watch their faces light up at something you made. Nobody can see how fast your heart is beating. We just stood there, arms crossed, trying to look cool, and loved every second of it.

The loudest guest we ever had

The plan was a calm, professional shoot. The plan lasted until our guest with the grey beard leaned over the camera and decided he was the main character. One of us stuck out his tongue, the other threw up the rock horns, and every serious frame we had planned was gone. We were surrounded by guitars, which felt like the universe closing a circle: we started out making noise in a room just like this one. The shot we needed that day was fine. The shot we remember is the one with all the screaming and laughing, the one nobody will ever see in a final cut.
